“Like all forms of eczema, it is not contagious or infectious. The hardest part of having eczema on your lips is the physical appearance and debilitating effect it has on your mental wellbeing and your relationship.” – Eczema On Your Lips
Lip Eczema Symptoms
Lip eczema may appear similar to chapped lips but there are a true number of differentiating symptoms to look out for:
People usually develop eczema around lips or on for different reasons. For some, it’s a total result of environmental factors such as chemicals found in lip products. For others, it’s due to genetics. It may even develop as a total result of the habitual licking of the lips. While the trigger that is exactly unique for each person, here are some common triggers to watch out for:
A sensitivity to weather that is extreme
A family history of eczema or allergies
Irritants in soaps or house-hold products
Change in hormone levels
Best Treatments for Lip Eczema
We firmly believe that natural products are the most methods that are effective in fighting eczema. By eliminating harsh toxins to your contact, you reduce the likelihood that your skin will flare-up because of a bad reaction. Besides, chemicals tend to dry your skin out which is the last thing you want if you’re suffering from eczema.
Here are some of our favorite products that are naturally treating eczema:
Containing only six ingredients, this balm is creamy soothing for all types of eczema. Itchy eyelids? Itchy elbows? Itchy knees? No problem – this skin-soothing cream can be applied anywhere on the body. Because of the oil that is olive beeswax, it’s gentle and nourishing and will not cause stinging or burning. Plus, manuka honey is known to have antibacterial properties. Finally, there are absolutely no preservatives that are added fillers – talk about au natural!
Natural and nourishing are the words we use to describe this soothing lip balm. With only three ingredients, it’s hard to describe it any other way. Calendula, beeswax, and vitamin E are all that is needed to supply the moisture to your lips they crave. Calendula is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory as well.
It’s no secret that coconut oil provides relief that is soothing inflamed or irritated skin as it is found in a variety of natural treatments. Like calendula, it is also antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. For optimal results, use a virgin, cold-pressed coconut oil.
Salt can be irritating for eczema, so we vouch for sugar instead of salt if you are planning to use a scrub as a lip eczema treatment. It’s the scrub that is perfect for dry lips. You can even use sugar that is brown cane sugar if you prefer a larger grain.

Suffering from eczema on your face is not only physically hard to treat but it can also be mentally challenging to deal with.
Eczema (Atopic dermatitis) has many different forms but all are difficult to treat on your face. Your face is one of the easiest parts of the body to cream as you don’t need to get undressed or be in the privacy of your own home to apply your treatment. However, your face is also open and more susceptible to the elements and needs more care than other parts of the body.
Flare-up on your face Verses Daily eczema facial care
The exact cause of eczema is unknown, experts and researchers believe environment and genetics both play a part in causing eczema. Something triggers the immune system which affects the protective barrier of the skin which then becomes dry, sensitive, and irritated. Eczema isn’t curable, but certain elements can make the symptoms worse, anything including allergens such as dust, household products like soap or synthetic fibers, cold weather, or stress. How to treat eczema on your face is all about being in as much control over your eczema as possible.
If you don’t control any one of these elements, temprature, moisture, contact irritants and chemical reactions then you could end up with an eczema flare-up which is a Nightmare to deal with emotionally and physically and can take weeks to overcome.
Treating your eczema daily and having a consistent routine is the key to managing eczema, I say managing eczema because even the best creaming routine won’t cure your eczema.
Eczema treatments to help manage eczema on your face
There are thousands of different treatments available online or over the counter that claim to cure eczema. If a product says ‘ CURES ECZEMA ‘ then I would stay away from it.
Whichever cream you try, please make sure you always check with your Doctor or GP before applying to your skin. You also need to make sure the cream or Lotion contains no dyes, fragrance, masking fragrance, lanolin, parabens, formaldehyde or steroids. All these ingredients can cause long-term health issues.
Unfortunately, we have made this mistake with our son, the overuse of one particular cream that contained Steroids has now caused him health issues and affected hormone growth through his teenage years. ( As if the poor lad didn’t have enough to worry about dealing with eczema )
Natural v Organic is another misconception, some companies will play the Natural & Organic card but never believe their marketing scams. This isn’t to say all companies are lying and we would always recommend using the most Natural and Organic treatments available. Always take the list of ingredients to your Doctor and check with them or your dermatologist, you can’t be too careful when it comes to How to treat eczema on your face.
Avoid Foods that trigger eczema
Certain foods can worsen your eczema. Keeping a food diary of what you eat can help you identify which foods cause eczema flare-ups. If you experience a flare-up after eating a certain food, remove the food from your diet. If your eczema improves, the food may be a trigger food and should be avoided at all costs. Common food triggers include eggs, soy, milk, wheat and nuts. Please consult your Doctor before making significant dietary changes.
Which eczema facial cream have we tried and approve?
I have used many creams throughout my 46 years of treating eczema and one of the best creams that worked on my face was Vanicream Skin Cream. I used it for over 10 Years and I only stopped when my Doctor would not prescribe it for free anymore. So I had to find another cream that worked just as well, I found Diprobase works as good and my Doctor would prescribe it. So I changed but I honestly thing Vanicream Skin Cream was good if not slightly better than Diprobase.
If you click any of the links above they will take you to AMAZON where you can purchase Vanicream and Diprobase and if you purchase them we will earn a small affiliate commision that helps us run the ECZEMA SUPPORT WEBSITE. So we thank you for using the links.
The only downside of Vanicream verses Diprobase is that Vaniceam is slightly thicker and a bit harder to apply to your face. Other than that Vanicream is great on the face.

When dealing with eczema on your face you need to be really careful what creams or lotions you use. Everyone who suffers from eczema has individual triggers that can affect your skin condition even more if you use something on your face that irritates the condition.
Eczema can affect any part of your body and can be harmful to your self-esteem. Having eczema on your face is very hard to deal with, both physically and emotionally. Most people who suffer from eczema try very hard to hide their eczema from the world, but hiding eczema on your face is very difficult.
In younger children, it’s all about testing and finding a suitable cream to moisturize that works gently on their face without any bad reactions. However, as you get older your skin can change and you’ll have to keep changing your moisturizer. Make sure you test new creams on a small test area of their face to see if there’s a bad reaction. It’s also good to keep a diary of the products used and the ingredients in the product to see if there are any recurring ingredients that don’t agree with your skin.
Organic products have many advantages when tackling how to treat eczema on your face and they can also help the overall wellness of your body. Organic body lotions are made with all natural ingredients but be sure to check that they are 100% organic and natural. They are also packed with minerals and vitamins, such as Vitamin E, which nourish your skin. Organic lotions contain other beneficial ingredients from natural sources, like shea butter and aloe vera which penetrate the skin to hydrate and rejuvenate, restoring damaged skin cells.
Remember just because all the ingredients are natural that doesn’t mean your skin will like them. Many people who suffer from eczema use coconut oil to moisturize their skin and love it but around 50% say it makes them worse. This just shows you how individual eczema can be and why it’s so hard to treat.
What can I do to treat eczema on my face?
One of the most common areas for eczema on the face is on the eyelids and the lips, given how thin and sensitive the skin is in these areas, making it very difficult to treat. Soothing and concealing eczema on the face can be a challenge since the skin on this area of the body is often very delicate, so choosing the right creams and lotions is super important.
Controlling what affects your eczema whether it’s an allergen such as dust, household products like soap or synthetic fibers, cold weather, or stress can really help manage your condition. There is no known cure for eczema so the best we can do is manage the condition. Avoid anything that can cause a flare-up, the dreaded word in eczema suffers lives… FLARE-UP. We all know how much damage can be caused by a short flare-up on the face or any part of the body for that matter.
If you use makeup then try use liquid foundation instead of oil-based products which can make your symptoms worse. Eczema is a lack of hydration in the skin so replacing and trapping moisture in the skin is the key to managing eczema.

But it can do more than offer you quick relief. It’s a preventative formula that can help prevent future skin flare-ups. Our Balm highlights essential oils of chamomile, lavender, and manuka honey in coconut and jojoba carrier oils. Wise Men can inhibit the production of key inflammatory molecules associated with eczema and can be useful in rebuild the skin’s protective barrier and lock in moisture all day.
